Community projects and events

As well as its tradition of working with children and young people Culpeper has always worked hard to include disabled people in the garden. Some of the most valuable work has been with the groups from the Elfrida Society for people with learning disabilities ,and the Southwood Smith Centre for people with mental health problems. Gardeners are supported to look after their plots with a focus on growing and feasting on the produce.

Annual garden events include Spring and Autumn Sales of plants raised by Culpeper gardeners, a strawberry tea party on Culpeper’s lawn for 100 local pensioners, open days, a summer arts project for children, Halloween and Christmas parties and BBQs.
